Fully managed
Situation
- Previous training provider was unable to complete training in the scheduled time frame therefore, causing delays as well as poor quality of training and communication.
- Stoke on Trent Council wanted to use a specific training school for training.
Challenge
- Stoke on Trent City Council have over 100 LGV drivers covering a multitude of driving roles, each have different skills and bespoke training, i.e. bin lorry with rear wheel steer, Gritters that have plough mounting, RORO skip trucks, gully tankers and much more.
- None of Stoke on Trent City Council’s LGV roles are standard meaning even recruiting very experienced drivers, they soon become a novice again when driving large vehicles in very tight residential streets.
- Required a fully managed service to specify different stages of training with regular reporting
- Prior to working with Insite, the training of drivers frequently experienced issues, which adversely affected the pass results, service delivery and resulted in additional delays within the department.
- Stoke on Trent City Council required to stay within their department financial budgets
- Stoke on Trent City Council’s incumbent training provider was costly, meaning they struggled to stay within budget.
Solution
Fully managed service from Insite: providing training in a timely manner and meeting Stoke on Trent City Council’s requirements to provide an affordable pathway for candidates to acquire HGV licenses, consequently reducing financial burdens. This strategy was designed to increase the number of drivers and address the operational challenges posed by staff shortages. Insite oversaw the training process, relieving pressure on Stoke on Trent City Council’s Fleet operations and compliance training team and improving overall operational efficiency.
Result
- Stoke-on-Trent City Council chose to partner with Insite recognising it as an excellent opportunity to enhance employee skills through the bootcamp initiative while remaining within their financial constraints.
- Enhancing employee skills has strengthened service capabilities, thereby increasing flexibility in response to peak demand periods.
- Fully managed service with regular communication providing updates and reports and 1-1 catch ups with the account manager.
