Metro Rod

Metro Rod has been leading the way in drainage solutions for over 40 years with more than forty regional drain cleaning service centres across the country.

“We required our engineers to be HGV trained quickly, and the team at Insite were brilliant from start to finish. They made the whole process smooth and easy, from enquiring and booking, to supporting our engineers through the practical and theory elements.”

Situation

  • Metro Rod have an ongoing requirement to upskill employees to drive their commercial vehicles within financial budgets. With busy day-jobs and a need for constant training, a fully-managed service with robust reporting on training progress was needed.

Challenge

  • Meto Rod was experiencing a shortage of HGV drivers for their day-to-day operations, causing challenges in managing services for the Group’s activities.
  • With a shortage of drivers, there was increased pressure on existing staff to manage essential services.
  • Prior to working with Insite, driver training was rarely completed in a timely manner, causing delays to service provision.
  • With franchises across the country, employees were being trained by different providers, with mixed results in terms of pass rates, costs and timescales.

Solution

Metro Rod contracted Insite to provide Category C training via the subsidised HGV Skills Bootcamp scheme.

The opportunity was promoted to centre managers throughout the business in order to leverage the funding on offer and maximise uptake.

Insite provided a fully managed, hassle-free service, enabling full visibility of candidate training progress, with regular catch ups and clear communication between stakeholders at all times.

Result

  • 14 employees have been trained so far to a Category C licence.
