What are local HGV Skills Bootcamps?

Local Skills Bootcamps are government-funded training programmes that equip people with the skills and qualifications needed for vital roles in the logistics and construction industries. Unlike the previous national Skills Bootcamp, these programmes are commissioned locally by individual city and county councils, ensuring they address the specific needs of each region. There are also more courses on offer, for example, at Insite, we’re currently partnered with a number of local councils to deliver: HGV, forklift, and PCV training courses.

The Skills Bootcamps provide a fast-track route into the industry, often at little or no cost to employers or learners. Their aim is to tackle regional skills shortages by upskilling existing staff or training new recruits to step into critical roles. Training typically covers everything from theory tests to hands-on driver training, with participants earning their HGV or other license upon completion.

Who are the local Skills Bootcamps for?

Local HGV Skills Bootcamps are designed for employers who need to fill critical driving roles quickly and cost-effectively.

Whether you’re looking to upskill existing staff or bring in and train new recruits, these programmes provide a ready-made solution, often at little or no cost to your business.

Commissioned locally to address specific regional shortages, they ensure your workforce gains the skills, qualifications, and licences needed to keep your operations moving.
